Secret’s out! I had the pleasure last month of visiting the San Francisco home of late #gunnesax designer Jessica McClintock, as the winner of the modcloth Gunne Sax muse contest! I previewed the #modclothxgunnesax collection and got to try a few pieces on — my favorite was this bridal white hooded dress that resembles one of the crown jewels of my vintage Gunne Sax collection, along with a mint green unicorn print(!) corset top + maxi skirt set. I met with Mary Santoro, Jessica’s younger sister, and got to ask her lots of burning questions I had about the brand’s history.🤍 And we had a tea party!
Fun fact: this home belonged to director Francis Ford Coppola in the ’80s! Jessica herself was a big movie fan, too — Brad Pitt was her favorite movie star, and she owned multiple copies of some of his movies.❤️😅
A big thank you to gabrielparraphotography for so patiently walking me through my first professional photo shoot. Thank you to mothermercivintage who sent me the contest form and told me I should enter, which I did without a second thought because I figured there was no way I’d win lol.
And thank you to the friends and my lovely partner who hyped me up for this — I was so desperately nervous to do it! Curious to hear everyone’s thoughts on the collection when it’s out. I’ll be posting some more previews in my stories in the coming days!

I had WAY too much fun wearing this outfit. The top is hellbunnyofficial, which I got from uniquevintage. The skirt is collectifclothing (rest in peace as of two weeks ago 😭) from modcloth. The tights are snagtights opaque tights in Blood Red color. The shoes are white faux leather keds. My red heart-shaped sunglasses, cheeseburger earrings and white petticoat (not shown) came from my favorite boutique, retrovixenkc! Retro Vixen in Kansas City, Missouri, also sells Hell Bunny clothes, but my size in this particular top was sold out by the time I thought to put this outfit together (heads up: Hell Bunny runs small and I always have to go up two sizes). Retro Vixen currently has a pair of the cheeseburger earrings in stock and some other cute Hell Bunny tops for sale online. I’m just now realizing that, aside from the shoes, all the clothing brands I used to create my U.S. flag-inspired outfit are/were based in the United Kingdom, of all countries! 😅

So today I figured that I would put together a ModCloth outfit and it’s so summery and fun. I’ve had the modcloth shirt with the eyelets on the sleeves for years now. I got the skirt at modcloth and it was such a bargain! The skirt is by Australian brand princesshighwayclothing and I adore it because it has daisies on it ( if you know me well , then you know that I can’t resist just about anything with daises on it).
As for my accessories , I’m wearing a katespadeny Daisy/ bee bracelet and to finish it off I wore betseyjohnson Daisy necklace and matching betseyjohnson Daisy earrings. The shoes are from torrid and they also were a bargain… As The Who would say “ I call it a bargain , the best I’ve ever had” haha! 😂 oh , my hat is from collectifclothing
I was n the hospital the other day visiting my best friend and they had a little museum with old school wheel chairs and old tinctures bottles and that was great because I’m working on writing a period piece . I’m doing so much research on old medicine and how …well I’m not going to say until it’s done haha , but the research alone will probably take at least 3 months. I do however have the outline and I almost have the storyboard done . Life is so crazy 🤪 , sometimes I feel like chaos is queen where I belong 🤷🏻♀️.
