We caught up with the husband-and-wife team behind the magic to talk vintage inspiration, playful prints, and the joy of getting dressed.
So… who is Retrolicious?Retrolicious is all about bringing vintage-inspired style into modern life — but not in a precious, “save it for special occasions” kind of way.
“We’ve always loved vintage, but we wanted to create pieces that feel just as good to wear as they do to look at — something you can actually live your life in,” says Tom from Retrolicious.
Designed and made in California, the brand blends classic silhouettes with expressive prints — the kind of pieces you reach for on a random Tuesday when you just want to feel like yourself, but a little more fun.
What inspired the brand?
It started simply: a shared love of vintage, and a feeling that something was missing.
“At the time, it felt like there weren’t many options that combined playful prints with flattering, vintage-inspired shapes,” Tom shares. “We wanted to bring that charm back — but make it wearable.”
Building a brand together
As a husband-and-wife team, Retrolicious has always been collaborative at its core.
“Working together just made sense for us,” says Tom. “We each bring something different, but we’re both really invested in the same vision — creating pieces that make people feel good.” That balance shows up in the brand itself — thoughtful, but never too serious. Playful, but still considered.
Where do the designs come from?
“We’re inspired by vintage eras, but also by things like nature, illustrations, and everyday moments,” says Tom. “We love creating prints that feel a little whimsical — something that makes you smile.”
That’s exactly what you get in pieces like the Floral Cats Fit & Flare Dress (a longtime favorite for a reason), the softly romantic Elizabeth Dress in Petite Floral, or the dreamy Firefly Midi Dress, which feels like golden hour in outfit form.
And then there are the more playful, personality-forward styles — like the Mushroom Collared Dress or the Spellbinding Skater Dress — where the brand’s sense of humor really comes through.
