Very cute but runs very big

"I love the cute look of this dress and the cute gingham plaid with strawberries. Very cute. It's great that it's cotton. But this dress runs very large. I'm a size 2 in most brands, and usually wear a small or extra small in dresses depending on the brand. Size XS was sold out, and according to the size chart my bust and hips are XS and my waist is size small, so I tried the small, but I'm swimming in it. The small is probably the equivalent of a size 4-6 (closer to a six maybe?) rather than a 2-4. The sash makes it wearable since I can cinch the waist, but the elastic smocking on the back of the bodice is loose. I may get it taken in since an XS is not available. It does have pockets, though, which I love! Overall a very good dress, but you might need to size down."
