WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF VINTAGE-INSPIRED SWIMWEAR?

• 40’s Swimwear- ruched bathing suits became all the rage in the 1940s. The first two-piece swimsuits made the scene with halter tops and high-rise bottoms. Solid colors as well as colorblock and striped prints were all the rage.

• 50’s Swimwear- In the 1950’s rockabilly, americana, and tiki-inspired bathing suits were taking over women’s fashion with polka-dot print swimsuits, tropical print swimsuits, and nautical-themed swimsuits.

• 60’s Swimwear- Bold floral prints took over women’s bathing suit fashion in the 1960’s, and swimsuits were being accessorized! Swimsuits with stylish belts, swimsuits with ruffle skirts, and swimsuits with psychedelic prints were considered to be at the height of fashion.

• 70’s  Swimwear- Floral prints were stayin’ alive in the 1970’s era of women’s bathing suit fashion. Bikini tops and bikini bottoms were finally making the scene, and one-piece swimsuits with groovy cut-outs appeared during this era too!

• 80’s  Swimwear- Animal print women’s bathing suits were very hip in the 1980’s. Leopard print swimsuits were particularly in vogue, Neon-hued bathing suits were always a good choice, as well as rainbow print swimsuits.

• 90’s Swimwear- Ditsy floral print swimsuits are totally 90’s, and rainbow bathing suits too! High-cut bikini bottoms became very popular, and don’t forget what Baywatch did for sporty one-piece bathing suits in solid colors. (Namely Pam Andersen in her red one-piece swimsuit!)
