I wanted to love it. . .

"I saw this dress, and I was instantly in love. I knew I had to have it for a certain upcoming special occasion, and was super excited to receive it. Right out of the package, the dress was gorgeous. The material is a good weight, the lace is beautiful, and the pearl details are stunning! I was happy that it was made from cotton. Once I tried it on, the excitement disappeared and I was left with disappointment. Per the size chart, I am a large, but ended up needing an extra large, due to the weird cut of the dress. The waist is small, but the bust is extremely generous. (I am pear shaped, for reference. ) I have a smaller chest (b-cups), and they were swimming in the extra material, even with the front laces fully tightened. The shoulders of the dress were also cut on the generous side, so the top of the dress gaped from the collar down to the neck line. This would probably look gorgeous on a true hourglass figure, but leaves much wanting for us pear-shaped ladies. The bottom of the sleeves were way too big, and not gathered at all. They easily fell past my wrists. In the pictures, the bottom of the dress is just lace. However, the dress I received was lined down to the bottom of the dress, and despite being lined, this dress is see through from top to bottom. I wanted to love this dress, and considered having it altered, but due to the intricacies of the design and material, I figured it was best to return it and continue my search. I am disappointed because in so many ways - the dress is lovely, but there are some very obvious oversights in the design."
